  • 63% of the 38 semis have contained a tie-break with six of these matches containing more than one tie-break.
  • In the 24 semi-finals between two seeded players the higher seed has won the opening set 16 times but on seven of those 16 (44%) occasions they subsequently lost the second set.

  • Federer’s tie-break record in 2009 is W17-L5 and in his Wimbledon career is W30-L9.
  • Federer has won all 48 Wimbledon matches after winning the first set with 39 wins in straight sets.
  • Federer has W2-L5 at Wimbledon after losing the first set.
  • In his eight matches that have gone to a first-set tie-break Federer has W5-L3 in the second set and two of the eight have gone to a fifth set.
  • Haas leads Federer in their head-to-head tie-break record 3-2.
  • Haas’ tie-break record this year is 10-8 and in his Wimbledon career is W11-L9.
  •  Haas has lost in straight sets in only three of  17 Wimbledon matches after dropping the first set  and won nine of the 17.
  • Haas has won 12 of the 15 fourth sets he has played at Wimbledon.
  • This is the first time Haas has played a top four seed at Wimbledon, he was sheduled to play Federer two years ago but withdrew.

  • Roddick has won 30 of the 33 matches where he has won the opening set and lost five of the eight where he has lost the opening set.
  • Roddick has won three of his four Wimbledon matches to go to a fifth set.
  • Murray has won in straight sets in nine of the 13 Wimbledon matches he has won the opening set.
  • Murray has won two of the four matches he has dropped the opening set with both his wins coming in five sets.
